Summary
In this article Andy Murray shares his feeling about his own performance and why he is so inspired by Rafael Nadal. Murray that is third in the world rankings has a record of 14 wins and 16 lost and never won a clay title on the ATP world tour. The number one of the rankings, Rafael Nadal won 173 and lost 14 matches and collected 25 clay titles. One thing that was a big inspiration for him was the big victory that Nadal had after beating Roger Federer in last year’s Wimbledon. He quotes like: "Everything he's done on clay has been unbelievable but there are very few people who thought he would have won Wimbledon". He also includes that Nadal owns his success because he always gives 110 percent. Murray that is now in Madrid for the Open clay also talked about his owns matches. After his lost to Juan Monaco of Argentina at the Rome Masters last month, Murray said he was hoping for a better performance in Madrid. After this match Murray tells that he wants to try to win the first match here in Madrid and then take each match as it comes. The conditions in Madrid are different and he tells that there is no use to think about semi-finals or finals.
Comments
I really liked this article because Andy Murray is honest and open about his feelings and performances. I am not a bit sports fan but this article was really interesting. The way he talks about Nadal shows that he really respects him and looks up to him. He is amazed about the fact that even he is number one Nadal always is on the court to practice and is giving his 110 percent. One thing that I also noticed was that he is really realistic about his upcoming matches and wants to take everything step by step. This shows to me that he really knows what he is doing and wants to do his best to achieve success. Many people have ego problems and would never admit that they are inspired by a colleague; by doing this Murray shows that he has no ego problems.
